As I went to prayer this week the words of Matthew 6:6 which appear at the beginning of the one hour prayer format kept coming to my mind. The words are, "Go into a room and close the door." To me the words "close the door" symbolize the shutting out of everything to spend time with Jesus. To shut out my worries, my anxieties, my racing thoughts, my to do list for the day - to shut everything out and leave them outside the door. To focus and spend uninterrupted time with Jesus. This is difficult for me. I often find my mind wandering particularly at the beginning and I have to remind myself that I have shut the door.

I encourage each person to continue to shut the door and leave everything outside.
